Victorian public and private hospitals to begin doing more elective surgeries from next week
Given the great work done to slow the spread of COVID-19, Victoria’s public and private hospitals will begin doing more elective surgeries from next week, where it is safe to do so.
Both private and public hospitals will next week reopen operating lists for category two and some category three elective surgeries that have been closed for the last month.
Our public and private hospitals are working as one to ensure the most urgent surgeries are completed first, regardless of whether patients have private health insurance or not.
I thank Victorians for their patience and playing a part in saving lives. This is a positive move but now is not the time to become complacent – we still have a long way to go.
