I would like to make some comments in reply to the Governor's speech, which was made in this house on 21 December last year.

I rise today to congratulate Mr Simon McKeon on being named this year's Australian of the Year.

I wish to raise my concern that the relocation of the Melbourne wholesale fruit, vegetable and flower markets to the northern Melbourne suburb of Epping is at risk of being scrapped under the coalition government.

I raise my concern that the academic and research precinct proposed at the Northern Hospital will not proceed under his government.

Last Thursday I was pleased to attend, with the member for Northcote and the Minister for Children and Early Childhood Development, the opening of the Clifton Street Children's Centre extension in Northcote.
