Kyneton District Health Service: aged-care facility

My matter this evening is directed to the Minister for Health. I seek his intervention to delay the closure of the Panch Health Service dialysis unit in Preston until an impact assessment is made.

Over the past few days there have been many events commemorating the 72nd anniversary of the battles of Greece and Crete during World War II.

It is unfortunate that not a day goes by when you read a
newspaper or listen to the radio without hearing about more jobs being lost in our state. This is a very dire set of circumstances, and it concerns me greatly because I represent a community in the northern suburbs of Melbourne that relies very much on the manufacturing industry.

Last Thursday I was also pleased to attend, together with Danielle Green, the member for Yan Yean in the Assembly, the President and the Minister for Health, an event held in Queen's Hall where Cancer Council Victoria, Breast Cancer Network Australia and BreastScreen Victoria celebrated 20 years of breast screening services in Victoria, which is a remarkable achievement.

I rise today to speak on the Sentencing Amendment (Abolition of Suspended Sentences and Other Matters) Bill 2013. I point out at the outset that the Labor opposition will not be opposing this legislation.

I rise to speak on the Integrity Legislation Amendment Bill 2013, a bill that the Labor opposition is not opposing.

I wish to draw the minister's attention to an employment program offered by Whitelion, which provides at-risk young people with support and guidance to secure meaningful and sustainable employment opportunities in the community.
