Assyrian Babylonian New Year Festival

On Saturday 31 March 2012, I had the pleasure of attending the Assyrian Babylonian New Year Festival celebrating the year 6762.  This festival also known as the Akitu Festival marks the arrival of spring in the Northern Hemisphere and dates back to Ancient Mesopotamia.  There was live music with performances by dance groups of traditional dancing.  It was a pleasure to be present at this event and to be part of an event that promotes the cultural heritage of the Assyrians.
