Today is #WorldSickleCellAwarenessDay.
Sickle Cell Disease is a genetic blood disorder that’s passed down through families.
It effects the shape of red blood cells, which slow blood flow or block blood vessels.
There’s a 25% chance that a child born from parents who are both carriers of the sickle cell trait will develop the disease.
That’s why I encourage Victorians to get tested, to know your sickle cell status.
